AIOFP take on the VOICE referendum and its implications

The CEO of the AIOFP, Peter Johnston, issues a take on the VOICE referendum and its implications for the future for those involved in the “sale of advice” profession.

Hi, the politically disastrous VOICE outcome for the ALBANESE Government and in particular the Prime Minister personally has thrown the 2025 Federal Election into disarray with Opposition Leader Peter Dutton a major political beneficiary.

This is a great outcome for the Advice industry, both major parties are predicted to be entering the ‘re – election’ mode shortly providing the very best environment to negotiate our desired outcomes.

This is generally the only time when Politicians will listen when their seat is on the line… nothing like self – interest to sharpen their focus.

Below is an email sent to all Politicians reminding them of the poor role Institutions have played in Advice focussing on the recent MLC/NAB $165 million fee for no service scandal in the Courts. Our objective is to educate all Politicians on the facts with our industry which should assist the passage of amended legislation proposals.

You may recall our 2020 Conference in the Hunter Valley when then Shadow Spokesperson Stephen Jones announced the 10 – year Education Pathway proposal which was immediately matched by Minister Hume and is now legislation.

3 years later we are in Canberra for our conference at a similar time frame in the Electoral cycle with our list of demands, we need a big roll up of members to assist the cause and our endeavours.
