The CEO of the AIOFP, Peter Johnston, reports Minister Jones has delivered on his pre – election promise

  • Minister Jones has delivered on his pre – election promise to allow those Advisers with more than 10 years experience and a clean ASIC record do not need to have a Degree.
  • It should be noted that for a new Minister to brief Treasury within days of being sworn into office is quite exceptional. We must be patient about the other issues we want addressed ie the Exam, Risk Commissions and compliance rationalization.
  • The Summary of the recent Mental Health Survey by Forte’s Steve Prendeville and Philippa Hunt demonstrated how severe the previous Government’s regime was and is on Advisers state of mind. A full report will be distributed shortly.
  • AIA’s Health Insurance policy offers an opportunity for a new cashflow source.
  • The AIOFP Board and management deserves credit for taking an aggressive approach to the former governments Agenda.
  • The AIOFP will be developing an ongoing CPD education program that will not only satisfy obligations but will be relevant to the day to day operations of the profession.

Regards.
