The CEO of the AIOFP, Peter Johnston, reports on the AIOFP conference.

The ‘PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE’ theme of the conference is based around having experienced ‘heads’ giving their views on managing money and client expectations to mitigate downside risk in the expected uncertain times ahead.

These experienced heads have been there before in bad times, little value having presenters who have only seen the landscape over the past 15 years or so.

Some of our presenters are –

  • Portfolio Construction Forum founder Graham Rich will be speaking on ‘Human factors in portfolio construction are critical’.
  • ASX Direct manager Hugh McNally of PPM looking at portfolio strategies in uncertain times. Hugh’s impressive track record is a 26 year 11.5% portfolio.
  • AFR’s Christopher Joye and Professor Sarath Delpachitra economic analysis on what we can expect over the next 18 months.
  • Institute of Managed Accounts founder Toby Potter will speak about why 40% of Advisers use Managed Accounts and their advantages in uncertain times.
  • Experienced Adviser and Psychologist Philippa Hunt will be looking at how to manage client expectations in uncertain times.

The recent OPTUS cyber-attack has many members asking about their obligations under law and what can they do to protect their practice and clients. We will have a presentation from our PI expert Ryan Neary and a Cyber expert on what you should be doing with risk and protection. Insuring for it is one issue, the other is doing something about it.

We are now only 7 weeks away from the event, please give it your full attention if you are joining us. Download the flyer here.
